OKI Regional Council of Governments monitors the performance of our transportation system and infrastructure. This is to promote economic vitality and sustain the environment. Various measures help our region meet — and in some cases, exceed — performance targets set at the federal and state levels.

OKI’s Role in Performance Measures

We monitor how the transportation system and infrastructure are performing throughout the OKI region. The OKI region is defined by four counties in Ohio (Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren); three in northern Kentucky (Boone, Campbell and Kenton); and one county in southeast Indiana (Dearborn).

This information is given to decision makers to help guide transportation and infrastructure funding at the regional level. Performance measures are part of our metropolitan transportation plan.

What Guides Our Work

The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), which became law in 2012, has several provisions that are transforming the federal surface transportation program, and that focus on achieving performance outcomes.

The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, signed in 2015, and built on the MAP-21 changes. FAST provides long-term funding certainty for surface transportation infrastructure planning and investment.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) / Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), signed in 2021, and built on the FAST and MAP-21 changes. IIJA provides long-term funding certainty for surface transportation infrastructure planning and investment.
